Özgür Özel had demanded his resignation: Former CHP deputy rejoins CHP
Edirne Deputy Ediz Ün, who resigned from the CHP in 2024 due to a legal case against him, announced that he has returned to his party following the conclusion of the judicial process.
Edirne Deputy Ediz Ün has rejoined the CHP, which he left in 2024 due to a judicial process initiated against him. Stating that no responsibility was found on his part within the scope of the investigation, Ün said he would continue his work under the party's umbrella.
Ün, who resigned from the CHP on September 28, 2024, stated in his announcement that he had discussed his decision to return to the party with Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. Ün noted that the meeting took place approximately 15 days ago and that Kılıçdaroğlu wished him success.
Evaluating the case filed against him, Ün argued that it emerged after the process that the matter was not connected to him. Ün said, "I was attempted to be accused due to a mistake by one of my employees, but it turned out that the matter was not related to me. I have been cleared and am returning to my party; I will continue my work in my home base," he said.
In his statement, Ün also used the expression, "I will continue to serve my citizens in the shadow of the great plane tree."
In September 2024, a large number of illegal electronic cigarette components were seized by security forces during a search of a personal vehicle belonging to Ün. Ün had filed a criminal complaint, stating that he had no connection to the incident and that he had entrusted his vehicle to his unofficial advisor.
Following the development in question, Ün had resigned from the CHP with the stated intention of not harming his party until the judicial process was completed.
