Özgür Özel hosts SPD Co-Chair
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) Co-Chair Lars Klingbeil visited Anıtkabir and laid a wreath at Atatürk's mausoleum.
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel visited Anıtkabir together with the Co-Chair of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), Lars Klingbeil. As part of the visit, Özel and Klingbeil walked along the Lion Road to the ceremonial grounds, where they laid a wreath at the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, and observed a moment of silence.
Following the ceremony, the two proceeded to the Misak-ı Milli Tower. Signing the Anıtkabir Special Book, Lars Klingbeil wrote the following:
"With respect to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey and the architect of today's modern and egalitarian society. With the feelings of brotherhood that have connected the Turkish and German peoples for years. With my deepest gratitude for these feelings of brotherhood."
Continuing the visit, CHP leader Özgür Özel and Lars Klingbeil also visited the grave of İsmet İnönü, where they laid flowers and observed a moment of silence.
