Özgür Özel on 'protocol crisis' and 'Dilruba': 'They want tension'

Özgür Özel on 'protocol crisis' and 'Dilruba': 'They want tension'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel visited the Dumlupınar District Headquarters and the Commander-in-Chief Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Social Facility, followed by a visit to the Dumlupınar Municipality.

During these visits, Özel was accompanied by CHP Deputy Chairmen İlhan Uzgel, Zeliha Aksaz Şahbaz, and Gülşah Deniz Atalar, Yenimahalle Mayor Fethi Yaşar, Afyon Mayor Burcu Köksal, CHP Ankara MP Umut Akdoğan, and CHP Kütahya Provincial Chairman Eyüp Kahveci.

CHP leader Özel harshly criticized the fact that he was not given a place in the protocol speeches during the official ceremonies held in Kütahya for the August 30 Victory Day.

Reminding that the leader of the main opposition party is third in the protocol order, Özel stated that the Governor's Office was concerned about the CHP's participation and therefore did not include him in the protocol speeches.

In his statement on the matter, Özgür Özel said, "The Governor's Office is persistently worried about our attendance at official ceremonies. They say, 'We cannot include you in the protocol speeches.' Ali Yerlikaya decided to come in a rush. They want ministers to speak on behalf of the executive branch in the protocol, but not the chairman of the main opposition party. This situation means belittling not only the CHP but also the main opposition party, which has a constitutional position."

THEY WANT TENSION

Özel further stated that those who hope to benefit from tension are fueling this situation, and that not giving him a speaking slot was a provocation against the party and its members, adding, "They want tension, they want the temperature to rise. But I will not give them that opportunity."

EVEN HER ARREST WAS WRONG

On the other hand, Özel also evaluated the release of Dilruba K., who had been arrested due to statements she made in a street interview in İzmir. He said, "Even taking Dilruba into custody was wrong. Her arrest was the most absurd thing in the world. Her release, however, is so correct."
