Özgür Özel reacts to Ratko Mladić being buried with military honors

YENİ PARTİ Chairman Özgür Özel reacted to the funeral of Ratko Mladić, one of those responsible for the Srebrenica Genocide, being held with military honors.

In a statement on his social media account, Özel stated that he condemned the transformation of the ceremony into a "display of heroism." Describing the attitude of the Serbian authorities as "unacceptable," Özel stated that the glorification of genocide perpetrators harms humanity.

I condemn the transformation of the funeral of Srebrenica genocidaire Ratko Mladić into a display of heroism with a military ceremony. This irresponsible attitude of the Serbian authorities is unacceptable.

In his post, Özel also called on the Serbian authorities, emphasizing that steps that would deepen the pain of Bosnian Muslims should be avoided.

Stating that "Bosnia's pain is our pain," Özel noted that he commemorates those who lost their lives in the Srebrenica Genocide with mercy; he condemned those who committed this crime against humanity and those who remained silent.
