Özgür Özel responds to Erdoğan's 'Mr. Özgür' remark
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, regarding AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan addressing him as "Mr. Özgür" (Özgür efendi), said, "By God, being called a gentleman is not a bad thing. If he thought for years and months and the only word he could find to call me was 'gentleman,' that is a reflection of our own gentlemanliness."
Regarding AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan calling him "Mr. Özgür," Özel stated, "Being called a gentleman is not a bad thing.
But if he is going to say something, he should say something to the retirees; he should first raise this 10 thousand lira to the level of the minimum wage."
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel attended the opening ceremony of the Çankaya Municipality Abidinpaşa Mansion National Struggle Museum.

"THIS IS A REFLECTION OF OUR GENTLEMANLINESS"
Responding to questions from members of the press as he left the museum, Özel gave the following answer to the question regarding AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan calling him "Mr. Özgür":
"Retirees are waiting for good news from them. While they are left alone with such low retirement pensions and such poverty, he is thinking about what nickname to give me. He thought and thought, and decided that calling me 'Mr. Özgür' was appropriate. By God, being called a gentleman is not a bad thing. If he thought for years and months and the only word he could find to call me was 'gentleman,' that is a reflection of our own gentlemanliness.”
Demanding that the lowest retirement pension be raised to the level of the minimum wage, Özel said, "But if he is going to say something, he should say something to the retirees; he should first raise this 10 thousand lira to the level of the minimum wage. Let the lowest retirement pension be at the minimum wage level of 17 thousand 2 lira. Then I will respond to him."
