Özgür Özel reveals the danger awaiting the CHP! 'Whoever wants to take this risk can, we are not'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who came to Diyarbakır to attend a series of programs, met with young people at a hotel, evaluated the current agenda, and answered questions.

In his speech, Özel evaluated the party's stance regarding the past immunity voting, stating that the Republican People's Party's current approach is the line established by their own administration.

Özel said, "The stance on that day was wrong, and we now see and accept that the work done to convince 20 of our 130 colleagues regarding the lifting of immunities, supposedly to prevent it from passing without a referendum, was extremely wrong, shameful, and problematic. Let me express this once again here."

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel also touched upon his party's approach to the Kurdish issue, stating that weapons should be laid down and the necessary legal regulations should be implemented.

Özel said, "We want there to be no weapons. We want there to be no tears; a mother's tears have no color. We want the tears of both Kurdish and Turkish mothers to dry. For this to happen, laws must be enacted as soon as possible, weapons must be laid down, and whatever needs to be done must be done quickly by both sides. The PKK must lay down its arms. The necessary legal steps must be taken rapidly. We told the families of martyrs and veterans that we would not do anything that would shame you or make us unable to look you in the face. We have maintained our stance on this issue since the first day, and we continue to maintain it."

"WE ARE MAKING OUR LEGAL AND TECHNICAL PREPARATIONS FOR ALL OPTIONS"

Touching upon the legal process being carried out regarding the party, Özel stated that they are continuing their work under four headings.

Özel said, "As for the questions about the party, have we been subjected to the greatest injustice in history? Yes, we have. We are following the legal processes on four fronts. Since we were thrown out of the 12th floor, we have visited 12 cities; we are in the 13th city. We see Diyarbakır as a city as important as Ankara and Istanbul. We believe that we will return to the Republican People's Party through legal means. If this happens, fine. If it doesn't, and we cannot find a way, we believe in the necessity of opening one. We are making our legal and technical preparations for all options. If the CHP does not hold a convention by July 26, it may not be able to enter elections. Is that correct? There is such a risk. Whoever wants to take this risk can, we are not. We are taking our precautions. We want to continue the march to power within the CHP. But if the trustee appointed to the CHP says 'leave the march to power and come wrestle with me,' I will leave them there and continue my march to power. There is no other way."
