Özgür Özel: The lowest pension should be the minimum wage
Following President Erdoğan's announcement of a 5 percent raise for pensions, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel reacted to the stated figure.
President Erdoğan announced after the Cabinet meeting that they had provided an additional 5 percent raise for pensioners, bringing the total raise for SSK and Bağ-Kur pensions to 42.6 percent, and stated that the lowest pension had been increased to 10 thousand liras.
REACTION FROM ÖZGÜR ÖZEL
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel reacted to the announced pension figures, stating, "The lowest pension should be the minimum wage."
Özel's post is as follows:
"Tayyip Erdoğan declared 2024 the 'Year of Pensioners.'
However, he has condemned pensioners to hunger. Both the additional raise announced by Erdoğan and the level to which he has raised the lowest pension are insufficient. Pensioners cannot be condemned to this.
The lowest pension should be the minimum wage."
