Özgür Özel: 'We set out to make the party the government'

CHP chairmanship candidate Özgür Özel explained the promises he plans to fulfill if he becomes chairman during a press conference he held at the CHP Adıyaman Provincial Headquarters.

''THE PARTY'S COURSE MUST BE TO TAKE POWER''

Speaking about the Republican People's Party's (CHP) change team, Özel continued as follows:

"We set out not to debate, weaken, or batter this party, but to strengthen, rejuvenate, unite, and make it the government. There are two answers to the question of which cadres will carry out the change in the Republican People's Party, and whether it will change with the old ones. There are friends of ours who have taken on duties and responsibilities in previous periods in the Republican People's Party who are on the side of our chairman. There are also those on our side, but there is a difference. The elders who are on the side of the chairman say 'the chairman continues, we continue.' There is no one on our side who says 'I continue.' We continue with the youth, we continue with new cadres. We continue with change and transformation. They say the party's course must be to take power and change must start with us."

Stating that the CHP will consist of young and effective cadres, Özel said, "In the coming period, you will see the dynamic, young, effective, and competent cadres of the Republican People's Party. However, you will see two things there: one, new names, and two, the organization itself. As I have always said, we must carry out the change process with loyalty."

''I AM A CHILD OF THIS PARTY''

Expressing that they avoid statements that would put the CHP in a difficult position, Özel stated, "If you notice, we are experiencing a process where we avoid expressions that would hurt, upset, or offend our esteemed chairman, and we avoid expressions that would put our party in a difficult position in the future. Tomorrow, on November 6, I will not take any stance that will be a burden or a trouble on the party's back. Because I am a child of this party and I do not want anything that will harm this party."

Following his speech, Özel met with the party's delegates.
