Özgür Özel’s explosive ‘trustee’ remarks regarding that municipality! ‘Erdoğan is trying to appoint…’

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel held a rally in Foça, İzmir, as part of his local election campaign.

Requesting support for his party's Foça candidate Saniye Bora Fıçı, Özel said, "I trust her to the end, I vouch for her."

Referring to the defeat in the May 14-28 elections, Özel stated, "We all have only one duty; not to be discouraged, not to be saddened, not to be exhausted, and not to give up..."

ADDRESSING RETIREES: TIME TO SHOW THE AKP A YELLOW CARD

Drawing attention to the financial difficulties faced by retirees, Özel said, "Last year it was 5 liras, 7,500 liras would buy 1,500 simits. This year, the 'gevrek' (simit) has become 10 liras, you get a thousand for 10,000 liras. The calculation has regressed from buying 1,500 gevreks to 1,000. The name of this loss is a wealth transfer from all of our pockets to the rich by someone's hand."

Özel expressed the following:

"When the ballot boxes speak on March 31, if the AK Party and the People's Alliance say, 'maybe we lost Foça, maybe we lost İzmir, but we are still getting votes from retirees, we are still getting votes from the villages, nobody is looking at salaries or price hikes,' if those who voted for Erdoğan in May vote for him again, they will think that the cost of living has no political cost, they will think that price hikes have no cost. Therefore, retirees, villagers, farmers; it is time to show the AK Party a yellow card in this election. This election is not a right-left election; this election is an election to bring a manager who will provide good service to the helm. This election is an uprising of millions who are fed up with high costs and have been impoverished against the government."

REACTION TO HAMZA DAĞ: ERDOĞAN IS TRYING TO APPOINT A TRUSTEE TO İZMİR

Reacting to the fact that the AKP and MHP's İzmir candidate Hamza Dağ is conducting his election campaign as if he were an "independent candidate," Özel said:

"There are those in İzmir who are entering a race by taking off their badges, thinning their mustaches, and not hanging up photos of their chairman. I want to draw the attention of all the youth of İzmir to this danger. The candidate they brought, who in the past, while the alcohol law was being discussed, said 'what would happen if it wasn't sold after 22:00, what would happen if it wasn't sold at all,' has now come to visit establishments serving alcohol, saying 'we won't interfere if we come.'"

Özel stated, "Whoever appointed the rector at Boğaziçi also appointed Hamza Dağ, my friends. He is trying to appoint a trustee to İzmir. İzmir will not allow this."
