AKP Group Deputy Chair Özlem Zengin responded on her social media account to the claim made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel regarding her remarks on the parliamentary funding debate.
It was reported that Özel had stated that after Zengin's remarks calling for the 'disclosure of the funding list,' another group deputy chair was sent to the subsequent parliamentary session in her place. Zengin rejected this claim, stating that the reason she could not attend the General Assembly session was a health issue.
In her statement, Zengin described Özel's words as an 'irrational accusation' and characterized the CHP leader's remarks as an attempt to gain political advantage.
In his statement, Özgür Özel said regarding my speech on the funding issue in the General Assembly; 'After Ms. Özlem said these words, they sent another Group Deputy Chair to the parliamentary session in place of Ms. Özlem.' This may be the procedure in their own party, but as our President said, 'we are not like them.'
In the continuation of her post, Zengin stated, 'While we have such important issues that we are mobilizing to resolve, trying to occupy the agenda with such an irrational accusation is something that could only be expected from them.'
AKP's Zengin also reacted harshly to Özel at the beginning of her statement, saying, 'May God help the opposition voters. What kind of party leadership is this...'
