Palestine invitation to CHP leader Özgür Özel from Mahmoud Abbas
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel was invited to Palestine by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas during a phone call between the two.
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel held a phone conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. During the call, Abbas expressed his regret for not being able to attend the session where he addressed the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) due to an accident he had.
Özgür Özel emphasized that the CHP has always stood by the just cause of the Palestinian people. He recalled that after being elected Chairman, he sent a letter to 119 world leaders urging them to recognize an Independent State of Palestine and noted that he has drawn attention to the massacres in Gaza during his visits abroad.
Furthermore, he stated, "We deem the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, to be necessary, and we support a two-state solution." Özel expressed that they are ready to take on any responsibility in the struggle of the Palestinian people.
Özgür Özel thanked Abbas for his visit to Turkey and stated that they also support Abbas's decision to go to Gaza.
Mahmoud Abbas, in turn, conveyed his best wishes to Özgür Özel and stated that he appreciates the history of the CHP and its support for the Palestinian cause. Abbas noted that Özel holds important positions as both CHP Chairman and Vice President of the Socialist International, and that he has brought the Palestinian issue to the agenda in these roles. Abbas remarked, "You are like a window opening to the world."
THIS IS AN OPEN INVITATION
Palestinian President Abbas invited CHP Chairman Özgür Özel to Palestine, stating, "I invite you to your second home, Palestine. You may come on any date you choose, and you can closely follow the situation of your Palestinian brothers and sisters. This invitation is an open invitation."
