People's Alliance and DEM Party reach an agreement! It is coming to Parliament before the holiday
The execution regulation, prepared through the joint efforts of the AKP, MHP, and DEM Party, is expected to be enacted before the Eid al-Adha holiday.
The 405 thousand people currently in prisons and their families are hoping that the execution regulation they have been waiting for for a long time will be enacted before Eid al-Adha. The AKP, MHP, and DEM Party have reached a consensus on the draft law prepared on this matter.
According to the report by Sözcü, following the instruction of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to also take into account the proposals of the MHP, AKP and MHP officials met last week. The AKP presented the regulation to the DEM Party, taking into account the proposals of its alliance partner, the MHP.
During the meetings, DEM Party officials requested that 3 thousand people, whom they defined as 'the elderly, the sick, and mothers with children,' also be included in the regulation. Conveying this proposal to AKP officials, the DEM Party members used the expression, "If you accept this proposal, it will ease our hand in the 'terror-free Turkey' process, and we will be able to move forward more easily."
The regulation, on which the three parties have agreed, is expected to be submitted to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) as a legislative proposal at the beginning of next week. In the event that no disagreement arises, the regulation is planned to pass through Parliament before June 6. Thousands of prisoners who could not benefit from the COVID regulation are also waiting for this new package to be announced. The scope of the proposal, which is claimed to benefit 55 thousand people, will become clear during the parliamentary deliberations.
