Speaking about the 2025 minimum wage increase, Great Unity Party (BBP) leader Mustafa Destici said, "The minimum wage should be increased by at least the inflation rate realized at the end of the year. In our opinion, the minimum wage should not be below 25 thousand liras."

People's Alliance partner gives a date for early elections and a figure for the minimum wage!

As the purchasing power of the Turkish Lira declines due to high inflation and record-breaking exchange rates, millions of citizens are struggling to make ends meet.

The AKP government's decision to skip the mid-year minimum wage hike in July has left workers in a difficult situation. All eyes are now on the 2025 minimum wage.

Mustafa Destici, Chairman of the Great Unity Party (BBP), a junior partner in the People's Alliance, made statements regarding the agenda at a press conference he held in Bursa.

"THE MINIMUM WAGE SHOULD NOT BE BELOW 25 THOUSAND TL"

Speaking about the minimum wage increase that millions of workers are eagerly awaiting, Destici said, "Despite our strong insistence, no mid-year raise was given to the minimum wage in July. Bursa is an industrial city, and there are perhaps hundreds of thousands of our brothers and sisters working for the minimum wage. No mid-year raise was given to the minimum wage. It was given to civil servants, civil servant retirees, and all SGK and Bağ-Kur retirees, but it was not given to minimum wage earners. Therefore, the minimum wage should be increased by at least the inflation rate realized at the end of the year. In our opinion, the minimum wage should not be below 25 thousand liras."

EARLY ELECTION STATEMENT

When asked about his views on early elections, Destici shared the following:

"If Turkey can succeed in constitutional reform, then we will talk about something different, but if there is no constitutional reform, or if no regulation regarding political methods, elections, and parties is made in the constitutional amendment, then my prediction is that early elections will take place in the spring of 2027, that is, around May or June."
