Striking claim from Perinçek: 'Bahçeli may have a Kurdistan project under Turkish protection in mind'
Vatan Party Chairman Doğu Perinçek, in his statement regarding the PKK's dissolution decision, drew attention to Devlet Bahçeli and said, "I think Bahçeli may have a project for a Kurdistan in northern Syria under Turkish protection in mind."
Vatan Party Chairman Doğu Perinçek evaluated the terrorist organization PKK's dissolution decision at a press conference held at his party's Istanbul Provincial Headquarters, stating that the PKK Congress must not be allowed to taint the dissolution process. Perinçek also reacted strongly to the targeting of the Treaty of Lausanne.
Perinçek's statements are as follows:
THE STRUGGLES OF THE PKK CONGRESS ARE IN VAIN
As Öcalan also stated, the PKK has reached the end of its life. There is no longer any historical ground for the PKK.
The Turkish Armed Forces and the Turkish Police, as a result of a long-standing struggle, have neutralized the PKK—which was supported, trained, and armed by major states such as the US and Israel—at the cost of martyrs.
The decision of the 12th PKK Congress, after admitting that "the PKK has completed its historical mission," contains desperate attempts to continue the organization's activities:
- It says the organization will not continue under the name PKK, but carries the claim of continuing under other names.
- By stating that "a new era has begun for the freedom movement," it claims that the "movement" will continue in this new era.
- It strives to spread the hope that they will be "more organized" in the coming period.
- It insists on organizing on the basis of Kurdish identity, "under the leadership of women and youth," and under the guise of "socialist democratic society" rhetoric.
No decision and no power, even if backed by the US, Europe, and Israel, can resurrect the PKK. The PKK has completed its lifespan. More importantly, the process we have entered is the process of integration of our people and Kurdish citizens affected by the PKK with the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish nation, as Öcalan also stated. This process is the two-hundred-year-old Turkish Revolution, our National Democratic Revolution.
'SEPARATE ORGANIZATION LEADS TO SEPARATION, JOINT ORGANIZATION LEADS TO UNITY'
We have entered a period in which identity-based programs, which US imperialism has brought to the agenda to destroy national states in the Developing World, have gone bankrupt and passed into history. Turkey is among the pioneers of this process.
Separate organization leads to separation. Joint organization leads to unity. The separatist claims of the PKK Congress will yield no result other than consigning the owners of these claims to the dustbin of history.
The people of Turkey, from all tribal origins and sects, will organize together in the ranks of the Vatan Party and will lead our National Democratic Revolution to certain victory together.
'THE 12TH PKK CONGRESS AVOIDS MENTIONING THE DECISION TO LAY DOWN ARMS'
The 12th PKK Congress avoids mentioning Öcalan's decision to "lay down arms," taking refuge in cowardly and insidious phrases such as "ending the method of armed struggle." Moreover, in the decision, it declares that it will persist in armed organization with phrases such as "self-defense against attacks." The Congress is attempting to leave a legacy of legitimacy to an imperialism-guided armed struggle by claiming that the struggle the PKK waged with hundreds of thousands of truckloads of weapons received from the US and Israel was "just" and "legitimate."
These expressions are the words of irresponsible and incompetent remnants of leadership who send people into the fire while sitting in their own mansions. Behind these expressions lie the policies of Israel and the US that pit brothers against each other. The PKK Congress's claims of future armed struggle will no longer find young men and women to send into the fire.
DEVLET BAHÇELİ MAY WANT A KURDISTAN PROJECT UNDER TURKISH PROTECTION
Vatan Party Chairman Doğu Perinçek concluded his remarks by saying, "I think that in Devlet Bahçeli's mind, there may be a project for a Kurdistan in northern Syria under Turkish protection."
