President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with CHP leader Özgür Özel at the CHP Headquarters

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived at the CHP Headquarters to meet with CHP leader Özgür Özel and conduct a return visit.

Erdoğan was welcomed at the entrance by CHP leader Özgür Özel.

As in their meeting on May 2, Erdoğan and Özgür Özel were accompanied by CHP Istanbul Deputy Namık Tan and AKP Deputy Chairman Mustafa Elitaş.

HIS DOCTOR ALSO CAME

It was learned that Erdoğan also brought his doctor along for his visit to the CHP Headquarters.

Erdoğan, who visited the CHP for the first time in 18 years, had last visited the CHP Headquarters in 2006 to meet with the then-chairman Deniz Baykal.

OVAL OFFICE AND EWER DIALOGUE

During Erdoğan's visit 18 years ago, the 'Oval Office' dialogue and a gifted ewer had become a topic of discussion.

The late CHP Chairman Baykal had replied to Erdoğan during the Oval Office conversation, saying, "We tried for a very long time to explain, especially to the press, that the Oval Office located on the same floor was not my office. That is our Central Executive Board meeting room." This mutual "Oval Office" chat had made both leaders and their accompanying staff laugh. The relationship between the two leaders, which had been strained by mutual accusations for some time, had softened with that visit.

During his visit to the CHP Headquarters, Erdoğan had gifted Baykal a filigree ewer.

During his visit, Erdoğan had emphasized that he liked the CHP headquarters building very much, which cost approximately 20 trillion in the currency of that time.

Erdoğan had said, "It is a spacious and bright building, and the cost is quite good. Moreover, the ceiling height is also very good. In many such buildings, lower ceilings are built."

The meeting between Özgür Özel and Erdoğan has concluded. The meeting between the two figures lasted 1 hour and 25 minutes.

No statement was made following the meeting.

As Erdoğan left the CHP Headquarters, he was again accompanied by CHP Chairman Özel.
