President Erdoğan rejects early election calls and lashes out at the opposition: 'To mask their internal conflicts...'
In his remarks at the Investment Advisory Council Meeting, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that Turkey has become a significant destination for international direct investment. Expressing that early election discussions are intended to cover up the opposition's internal conflicts, he noted that the 3.5-year period without elections ahead of Turkey is critical for achieving its goals.
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements at the "Investment Advisory Council Meeting."
In his speech there, Erdoğan gave messages regarding the economy and domestic politics, arguing that Turkey has become one of the leading destinations for international direct investment, and said they would implement new reform packages.
Stating that they have determined the roadmap for the economy with documents such as the 12th Development Plan, the Medium-Term Program (OVP), and the international direct investment strategy, Erdoğan said, "One of the fundamental goals of the OVP is annual economic growth of over 5 percent. We are focusing on digital transformation, the green economy, and energy efficiency, and we plan to accelerate investments."
Touching upon the opposition's early election discussions, Erdoğan claimed that these discussions were brought to the agenda to mask the opposition's own internal conflicts.
Erdoğan used the expression, "Turkey has 3.5 years ahead of it without elections, each year as valuable as gold. We can only reach our goals by making the most of these 3.5 years."
