Presidential Chief Advisor Saral's Cyprus remark: 'What is necessary will be done'

Presidential Chief Advisor Oktay Saral, who went to Elazığ as a guest of the National Turkish Student Union, answered questions from members of the press regarding the agenda. Saral also evaluated MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's statements regarding the TRNC election results.

"CYPRUS CANNOT STAND WITHOUT TURKEY"

Drawing attention to the change that took place in the presidential election held in the TRNC, Saral used the following expressions:

"There was a change in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. A president who desires a federated state was elected. These were political discourses told to the voters during the election process. However, the elected President thanked Turkey, especially our President. They said, 'We know that Cyprus cannot stand without Turkey. Turkey is our elder, our protector.' This is the correct stance."

"BAHÇELİ'S WORDS ARE IN THE NATURE OF A WARNING"

Evaluating the statements made by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli after the election, Saral stated that these expressions carried the nature of a warning to the TRNC administration and added the following:

"Mr. Bahçeli actually issued a warning at the point of 'do not take a wrong step.' These words have been very accurate. It means 'pull yourself together, Cyprus is not a country that can become a federated state through some underhanded tactics.' Cyprus is a state that shares the same destiny as Turkey's destiny. It is an inseparable, indivisible part of us."

SUBLIMINAL MESSAGE

Describing Bahçeli's statements as a "subliminal message," Saral said, "These words are a reminder to the current administration of Cyprus. It has been a message that no steps should be taken separately from Turkey."

Saral also emphasized that Turkey's support for the TRNC will continue:

"Turkey provides support in many areas, especially water projects, for the development of Cyprus. A share is allocated in our budget and subsidies are provided. Therefore, it is not possible for Cyprus to take a step separate from Turkey."
