Reaction to 'Black Friday' from the Palace: A call to businesses
Chief Advisor to the President Oktay Saral has issued harsh criticisms regarding 'Black Friday' sales. Stating that this practice harms the sanctity of Friday, Saral called for legal and administrative steps to be taken.
Chief Advisor to the President Oktay Saral has reacted to discount campaigns held under the name 'Black Friday.' In a statement made via social media, Saral described the use of the term 'Black Friday' by some stores as an attempt to exploit Friday, which holds spiritual significance for the Turkish people, for commercial purposes. Saral emphasized that such practices are incompatible with the sensitivities of society and are unacceptable.
THERE IS NO PLACE FOR THOSE WHO DISRESPECT THE SANCTITY OF FRIDAY
In his post, Saral used the following expressions:
"It is absolutely unacceptable for some stores to turn the sanctity of Friday, which this nation has considered blessed for centuries, into advertising material under the name 'Black Friday'."
This statement received significant support, particularly from segments advocating for the protection of traditional values. Stating that such marketing tactics mock the religious and spiritual values of the public, Saral took a clear stance against the erosion of values for the sake of commercial gain.
LEGAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE STEPS ARE NECESSARY
Saral stated that the necessary legal and administrative steps regarding this matter must be taken immediately. He continued as follows:
"Necessary administrative and legal steps must be taken immediately against those who target the nation's spirituality with these cheap marketing tactics."
The Chief Advisor stated that oversight mechanisms should be activated and that sanctions should be imposed on businesses that intentionally use this term.
At the end of his statement, Saral expressed that Friday holds a special meaning for the Turkish people, saying, "Friday is not black for this nation; it is a day of light, mercy, brotherhood, and abundance. No one has the right to overshadow or tarnish this."
A CALL TO AUTHORITIES AND BUSINESSES
Finally, Saral made a call to the authorities, stating, "I invite the authorities to protect the sensitivities of our nation, and I invite businesses to come to their senses and stop mocking our values."
