Release order issued for former AKP member Hüseyin Kocabıyık
Former AKP İzmir MP Hüseyin Kocabıyık was sentenced to 2 years, 5 months, and 5 days in prison for insulting the President. Kocabıyık has been released.
Hüseyin Kocabıyık, who was arrested on charges of "insulting the President," was tried at the Istanbul 46th Criminal Court of First Instance. Kocabıyık's defense was heard as part of the case.
PARTICIPATED IN THE HEARING VIA SEGBİS
Kocabıyık, who has been detained at Sincan Closed Prison since October 7, participated in the hearing via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS).
2 YEARS, 5 MONTHS, AND 5 DAYS PRISON SENTENCE
The court panel concluded that the charge of "insulting the President" against Hüseyin Kocabıyık was proven and decided to sentence him to 2 years, 5 months, and 5 days in prison.
RELEASE AND TRAVEL BAN
Following the sentencing, the court ruled to end Kocabıyık's detention. Along with the release order, it was decided to impose a travel ban on the defendant.
