Özlem Vural Gürzel, who was elected Deputy Mayor of Beykoz following the arrest of Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler but joined the AKP shortly thereafter, has made a remarkable decision.

According to a report by Birgün, two daycare centers belonging to the Beykoz Municipality are being transferred to the Ministry of National Education following the approval of a proposal submitted to the municipal council with the consent of Özlem Vural Gürzel.

Gürzel joined the AKP on September 13 with a pin attached by President Erdoğan. The foundations for the daycare centers had been laid two months before Alaattin Köseler's arrest.

Köseler had initiated the project by stating, "When I took office, we did not have a single daycare center left."

Beykoz came under CHP administration in the March 31, 2024 local elections, and Alaattin Köseler received over 45 percent of the vote.
