Remarkable statement from Feti Yıldız amid claims of a crisis in the People's Alliance

The absence of MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli and his aides, key figures in the People's Alliance, from the reception held at the Palace on the occasion of the October 29 Republic Day, drew attention.

Bahçeli did not participate in any events throughout the day, including the ceremonies at Anıtkabir. MHP was represented at these events by Celal Adan and Erkan Akçay.

This stance by Bahçeli led to interpretations that a crisis is occurring within the alliance. Following these developments, Feti Yıldız, MHP Deputy Chairman in charge of Legal and Election Affairs, stated in a post on the social media platform X that proposals regarding social issues cannot go beyond being "mental gymnastics" unless they carry practical value.

In his post on X, Yıldız said, 'Let us build a language suitable for steps that embrace the entire society, expand the sphere of fundamental rights and freedoms, and reinforce the citizen's sense of belonging to the country and trust in the state. Let us think calmly. Let us not fall into the trap of those who are eager to fuel hostilities.'

DISAGREEMENT OVER THE TRNC

Different views between People's Alliance partners AKP and MHP regarding the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) are also drawing attention. Following Tufan Erhürman's victory in the TRNC presidential elections, MHP leader Bahçeli had argued that the TRNC parliament should not accept the election results and should decide to join Turkey. In contrast, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had stated that relations with Northern Cyprus would continue as they are and that they respect the will of the Turkish Cypriots.
