Remarkable words from Müsavat Dervişoğlu regarding Demirtaş: 'I do not agree with his actions, but...'
İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu, in his assessment following the ECHR's ruling on Selahattin Demirtaş, stated, "I do not agree with his actions, but a person's freedom should be determined by law and justice, not by politicians."
İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu made remarkable statements regarding former HDP Co-Chairman Selahattin Demirtaş following his party's group meeting.
Responding to journalists' questions regarding the finalization of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruling on the violation of rights concerning Demirtaş, Dervişoğlu stated that the process should be conducted within a legal framework, not a political one.
“I DO NOT AGREE WITH HIS ACTIONS, BUT THE LAW MUST PREVAIL”
Dervişoğlu used the following expressions in his statement regarding the ECHR ruling:
“I am aware of yesterday's decision. I do not find it appropriate for these decisions to be implemented based on politics. I believe that we should adopt a common stance that favors the prevalence of law and justice rather than interests.”
Continuing his statement, he said, “I do not agree with Selahattin Demirtaş's actions or rhetoric, but the restriction or restoration of a person's freedom should manifest in law and justice, not in politicians.”
