Remarks from İYİ Party's İzmir candidate Ümit Özlale that will anger Tunç Soyer

İYİ Party İzmir Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Ümit Özlale lashed out at the opposition. While explaining the behind-the-scenes events of the 'Table of Six', Özlale also emphasized that the notion that 'İzmir is the stronghold of the CHP' is baseless.

"IT IS NOT BEING MANAGED WELL"

Drawing attention to the number of personnel at the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, Ümit Özlale said, "I think half of the personnel at the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality are 'ATM employees'. I will clean them out. I aspired to this job because I think I would be a better mayor. If a company with 53 thousand employees does not collect İzmir's trash, and if İzmir still smells, then there is a better way of municipal management. I think the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality is not being managed well."

"WE COULD NOT MANAGE THE COMMUNICATION"

Explaining the reason behind İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener's departure from the 'Table of Six' and the background of the subsequent developments, Özlale stated, "In all poll results, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was behind Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Mansur Yavaş and Ekrem İmamoğlu, however, were ahead. For me, there was no difference between Mansur Yavaş, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, and Ekrem İmamoğlu. All polls showed that Mr. Kemal was receiving fewer votes. When I caught Mr. Kemal in parliament, I told him that. I told Selin Sayek, I told Faik Bey. We said, 'We cannot win.' Faik Bey, on the other hand, said, 'It is the general chair's most natural right to be a candidate.' We could not manage the political communication of this matter. Let this be a burden on us."

"İZMİR IS NOT A CHP STRONGHOLD"

Pointing out that the claims that 'the CHP would win even if they hung a jacket' and that 'İzmir is a CHP stronghold' have no basis, Özlale said, "İzmir is not a CHP stronghold. İzmir is too ancient to be the stronghold of any political party. İzmir is democratic, it is oppositional. It does not believe immediately; it waits to be convinced. It is not easy to make yourself loved by İzmir."
