Resignation earthquake in CHP: Provincial chair removed from office

Mass resignations at the CHP Erzincan Provincial Presidency have caused a crisis within the provincial administration.

CHP Erzincan Provincial Chair Zeynep Erdoğan Sarıca, who supported Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu at the 38th Ordinary Congress of the CHP, was removed from her post after 13 of the 20 members of the provincial board resigned.

Zeynep Erdoğan Sarıca, who was removed from office, has issued a statement.

In her statement, Sarıca used the following expressions:

"Dear Friends,

As of today, I am forced to leave my post as the Republican People's Party Erzincan Provincial Chair, which I began on October 4th.

My duty, which started first as a member and then as the Erzincan Provincial Coordinator for Kılıçdaroğlu Volunteers, continued with the Provincial Chairmanship as of October 4th. Before that, we visited every corner of Erzincan for both party work and general election campaigns. We embraced thousands of people. During my short tenure as Provincial Chair, we tried to represent our party in the best way possible, both in Headquarters meetings and in events in Erzincan. Despite the short time and negative circumstances, we did not stand idle for a minute.

I am a retired educator. I am a volunteer for politics and struggle. I know teamwork, voluntary effort, field work, and organized struggle well. I do not know opportunism or back-door politics. For this reason, if we made mistakes, please forgive us.

I owe a debt of gratitude to our party workers, our youth, our women, and our people who embraced us everywhere throughout this process. I am glad you exist. I am addressing everyone who walked this path with me.

We absorbed the negative experiences we lived through, the attacks we faced, and even the personal attacks that we could have taken to legal authorities, with the mentality that 'the party would be harmed.' I ignored the insults directed at me and tried to continue on my path and push the boundaries to the furthest point."

As a woman, I imagined a new struggle and a different organizational structure. Unfortunately, at the point we have reached, I see that some walls are impassable and that it is still too early for the egalitarian days we dreamed of.

To those who turn the struggle within the party into a battlefield and think they have achieved daily victories against us, I would like to remind them that our real opponents have not yet lost their seats. To those who believe that problems will be solved only by changing me and my fellow travelers, I say, 'The proof is in the pudding.' Politics and life are a long marathon. Temporary defeats and victories are the business of daily politics. With daily interests, only the happiness of a handful of minorities is in question.

Even if not today, we will surely reach the days we dreamed of one day.

AN APPOINTMENT WILL BE MADE TO THE PROVINCIAL CHAIR

On the other hand, it has been learned that, in accordance with the party bylaws, a new appointment will be made to the Provincial Chair by the Headquarters in the coming days.

SHE HAD BECOME ERZINCAN'S FIRST FEMALE PROVINCIAL CHAIR

Zeynep Erdoğan Sarıca was on Yalçın Tanrıverdi's board of directors list at the CHP Erzincan Provincial Congress.

However, when Tanrıverdi's candidacy was not accepted, Zeynep Erdoğan Sarıca was nominated for provincial chair. Receiving 147 votes in the election where 250 delegates cast their votes, Sarıca became the first female provincial chair of the CHP in Erzincan.
