Resignation in CHP: Directed under pressure
Uğur Dümen, CHP Uşak Central District Chair, resigned along with his board, stating, "We are determined to protect the honor of our organization and our democracy."
Republican People's Party (CHP) Uşak Central District Chair Uğur Dümen and members of the board of directors have resigned from their positions, citing developments during the neighborhood delegate election process.
In a written statement, Dümen said, "Members were directed without the knowledge of our organizations and under pressure. Employees were forced to vote under the threat of dismissal, and the ballots cast were required to be handed over in exchange for a signature. These pressures and threats are documented by video recordings and testimonies."
Noting that there was pressure on party members during the delegate elections, Dümen said, "Party members were confronted, attempts were made to force entry into the polling area, and there were verbal attacks. The police had to intervene."
Stating that "attempts are being made to disregard the roots of the Republican People's Party," Dümen added, "Interfering in elections through methods such as dismissals, hiring, and enrolling non-party members as members is diametrically opposed to the principles of our party. We will not bow to these methods. We are determined to protect the honor of our organization, the independence of our party, and our democracy. In Uşak, courage will prevail over fear, and the true will of the organization will prevail over threats." He announced that they were only resigning from the Central District Presidency and board membership, and that their party memberships would continue.
