During this visit, Municipal Council Member Halil İzci, who had resigned from the New Welfare Party, decided to join the Republican People's Party (CHP).
During his contacts in Adıyaman, Özgür Özel pinned the CHP badge on Halil İzci and welcomed him to the party. This decision by İzci increased the number of seats held by the CHP in the Adıyaman Municipal Council to 21.
