Response from Özgür Özel's camp to 'new party' claims
Gül Çiftçi responded to claims that a new political entity would be formed after July 21, stating, "There has been no step taken by our side."
While legal debates regarding the CHP's party convention process continue, a response has come to claims that Özgür Özel's camp is preparing for a new political entity.
Gül Çiftçi, one of Özgür Özel's legal advisors, denied the claim that a new party or political entity could be launched with approximately 100 deputies after July 21 if an unfavorable decision is reached by the Court of Cassation regarding the "objection to absolute nullity" process.
Speaking to Odatv, Çiftçi addressed the claims, saying, "No, the statements made on this matter were not made with our knowledge. We do not have a date set for this direction."
Evaluating the stance of CHP deputies, Çiftçi stated that more than 20 deputies are in favor of "nullity." Çiftçi noted that a few deputies, such as Gürsel Erol, Engin Altay, and Ali Öztunç, have not taken a clear position.
Stating that the remaining deputies are on Özgür Özel's side, Çiftçi said, "All of the remaining deputies are with our Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel."
Touching upon the status of the file at the Court of Cassation, Çiftçi said that the file has gone to the Court of Cassation but has not yet reached the review stage. Çiftçi used the expression, "There is no progress at the moment."
The debate over a new political entity had come to the agenda after CHP Aydın Deputy Süleyman Bülbül stated that the Court of Cassation's decision would be decisive and that a new entity could be launched with approximately 100 deputies after July 21 in the event of an unfavorable decision.
