Response from YRP's Geyveli to the government's SGK move: 'We caught them by the heel...'

Selçuk Geyveli, Deputy Chairman of the New Welfare Party in charge of Social Policies, held a press conference in Erzurum.

Evaluating the country's agenda, Geyveli addressed the efforts to collect debts from municipalities by the SGK, stating: "We see this as pressure exerted by the government on municipalities—and consequently on the public, since these services are for the public—in order to hinder the services of municipalities that have passed to the opposition, regardless of who holds them, and we do not find this right. As for our own municipalities, they are all municipalities we took over from the AK Party. They are all heavily indebted municipalities. For example, the Urfa Metropolitan Municipality is currently one of the most indebted municipalities in the true sense. Before the local elections, the government, as is known, made a terrifying number of worker hires to get votes and win the government. Not only did they leave behind heavily indebted municipalities, but at this point, they are now saying, with the power of the state, 'I will come and tie your hands.' It is impossible for us to accept this."

"THEY ARE FLOCKING TO OUR ORGANIZATIONS"

Making a statement regarding the polls conducted in the public eye, Selçuk Geyveli said: "If the New Welfare Party has reached 550 thousand members and 3 million voters today, and our members are increasing every day, we are not having any trouble signing up members anywhere in Turkey. Everywhere we go, regardless of their political views, when we say 'We are the New Welfare, we brought Erbakan's greetings,' the waters stop flowing. We enter every door. Our goal, with God's permission, is to show a red card in the next election to the government that could not evaluate the yellow card shown by our nation, and we have no doubt that we will take over the presidency with Mr. Fatih Erbakan and the government as the New Welfare Party. For now, we are the hope of all of Turkey. We have now caught the government by the heel, and consequently, our people are flocking to our organizations everywhere with their favor."

"THEY ARE TRYING TO SWALLOW THE OLD AS NEW"

Touching upon the state of the country's economy, Geyveli said: "After the elections, the government said, 'We will appear before you with a new economic management and a new model.' Therefore, by bringing back Mehmet Şimşek, they are trying to make us swallow the old as new. They are comparing yesterday and today with one-year data as if the AK Party government has not existed for 22 years. Now look, let's compare this one year, if you like. In this one-year comparison, the dollar rose to 33 liras. While inflation was 38 percent, we saw 75 percent. Finally, TUIK announced it as 71 percent. Despite the cost of living exceeding 100 percent in every subject—in stationery, clothing, food, and rent—with increases between 100 and 800 percent, one must be amazed at how 85 million people live in a country where they receive salaries according to TUIK data but live according to ENAG. Truly, Turkey is performing a miracle. It is writing history; there is no example of this in the world."
