The Supreme Election Council (YSK) has concluded the vote-counting process in the town of Akpazar, located in the Mazgirt district of Tunceli, where there are 1,700 voters and where the council had decided to renew the elections.

In the March 31, 2024 Local Administration General Elections, CHP candidate Zeynel Yıldırım had received 471 votes and AKP candidate Ali Aydın had received 467 votes in the Akpazar town of the Mazgirt district. With a 4-vote margin, the CHP's Yıldırım had won the election.

AKP CANDIDATE WINS

According to unofficial results, AKP candidate Ali Aydın was elected mayor with 644 votes.

While CHP candidate Zeynel Yıldırım received 422 votes, DEM Party candidate Orhan Çelebi received 220 votes, MHP candidate Neşe Gür received 81, and New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah Partisi) candidate Ahmet Yılmaz received 9 votes. WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

The election was ordered to be renewed following an 'objection' filed by the AKP, which argued that the ballot box committee had failed to provide mayoral ballots to some voters at the ballot box set up in the town's Örs neighborhood, and that this situation would affect the outcome of the election.

Voting began at 08:00 in the town, which has 1,700 registered voters. Voting concluded at 17:00 in the town, where a total of 10 ballot boxes were located and strict security measures were in place.
