Saadet Group to continue in Parliament: CHP's Ali Fazıl Kasap joins Saadet Party
CHP Kütahya Deputy Ali Fazıl Kasap has joined the Saadet Party. The number of deputies for the Saadet Party has risen back to 20.
Saadet Party Kocaeli Deputy Hasan Bitmez's passing had caused the Saadet-Gelecek alliance's parliamentary group to fall below the required threshold.
Following negotiations in which the Saadet Party worked to include at least one more deputy to re-establish its group, CHP Kütahya Deputy Ali Fazıl Kasap joined the SP.
Kasap's petition was submitted to the General Secretariat of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). With this, the number of deputies for the Saadet Party has reached 20 once again.
According to the TBMM Rules of Procedure, political parties with fewer than 20 deputies cannot form a group in Parliament.
