Sabah newspaper links detention of 'Ajans Muhbir' and 'Aykırı' editors to 'Altındağ Incidents': Harsh reaction from Ümit Özdağ

A news report in the pro-government Sabah newspaper, titled "Shocking details about the Ajans Muhbir editor: They conducted interviews in Güvenpark before the street incidents in Ankara," was met with a harsh reaction from Zafer Party leader Ümit Özdağ

In the report, the "Altındağ Incidents," which occurred after a group of Syrians stabbed two Turkish youths following an argument in the Battalgazi neighborhood of Ankara's Altındağ district, were linked to Ajans Muhbir editor Serkan Kafkas

ALLEGATION OF "PREPARING THE GROUND FOR STREET INCIDENTS"

While referencing the 'file' and 'report' prepared about Kafkas, the relevant section of the news report included the following statements:

"Four suspects, including Serkan Kafkas, the editor of the social media account named 'Ajans Muhbir,' were arrested on charges of 'publicly disseminating misleading information' and 'inciting the public to hatred and hostility.' Shocking information was included in the report prepared about Kafkas, which was entered into the file, regarding the perception created by journalist İsmail Saymaz and Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ that he was detained because he is a 'Turkish nationalist.' It was stated that Kafkas conducted interviews with Syrians in Güvenpark on August 7, 2021, that the interviews prepared the ground for the street incidents targeting Syrian refugees in Altındağ on August 10, and it emerged that Kafkas was in constant telephone contact with 4 Syrians before and after the incidents."

The news report also included images from the interviews that Kafkas allegedly conducted.

HARSH REACTION FROM ÖZDAĞ

Özdağ, who made a statement following the arrest decision and has been following the process closely, reacted to the news report.

In a post he shared on social media, Özdağ said:

"The disgusting propaganda pamphlet called Sabah newspaper continues to throw mud at Turkish nationalists. Look at the headline of the news. Shocking details, they say. You are truly vile, stateless people. I am sure that there is bleach, not blood, in your veins."
