Saral, Döğücü, Çelebi... AKP figures 'congratulate' violence in Parliament

The assault on Mersin MP Ali Bozan, who was speaking on behalf of the DEM Party Group in the Parliamentary General Assembly on Wednesday, by former Minister of Transport and AKP Trabzon MP Adil Karaismailoğlu was congratulated by AKP figures.

Chief Advisor to the President and member of the Presidential Local Government Policies Board, Oktay Saral, shared footage of the attack on his X account and congratulated Karaismailoğlu.

Saral said the following in his message:

"I wholeheartedly congratulate my fellow countryman, our former Minister of Transport and Infrastructure and AK Party Trabzon MP Mr. Adil Karaismailoğlu, for responding to Ali Bozan, a member of the terror nest DEM, with the treatment he deserves. Health to your hands, to your Oflu stance..."

Former AKP MP and Sancaktepe Mayor Şeyma Döğücü was also among those who congratulated Karaismailoğlu.

Şeyma Döğücü, who is also a lawyer, wrote on her social media account, "Health to your hands and feet, Mr. Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu." 

AKP İzmir MP Mehmet Ali Çelebi also showed his support by sharing a photo of himself standing side-by-side with Karaismailoğlu in the Parliamentary General Assembly, saying, "We continue our work in the Grand Assembly..." 

WHAT HAPPENED?

While the IYI Party's group proposal was being discussed in the Parliamentary General Assembly, Ali Bozan, who was making the group speech on behalf of the DEM Party, used the following expressions at the podium: 

“The subject of the proposal is taxes, the agenda of the Parliament is taxes. The last time I came to this podium, I applauded the AKP benches for what they did, but don't get excited this time, I will not applaud you. Because even if we explain, even if we clarify, even if we boo, you don't understand, and when it comes to a point, you don't feel ashamed. Our topic is taxes, what you stole from the pensioner's pocket... Think about it, you are a pensioner withdrawing your salary, someone came from behind and stole your salary. In such a situation, what would you do? You would shout, 'there is a thief, there is a thief,' you would go to the police and file a complaint. You would sue this thief. Thanks to TUIK, the AKP does this every month. It steals regularly every month from the pockets of the worker, the civil servant, and the pensioner. The voice of the worker and the civil servant is not heard. I want to shout here on behalf of the citizen whose salary was stolen from their pocket; there is a thief, there is a thief, there is a thief. The AKP is stealing, the AKP is stealing.”

AKP MPs first responded to these words of Bozan by saying “Look in the mirror” and then, “You are also ill-mannered and immoral.” Bozan replied, “You are the ill-mannered and the immoral ones. Come up here once, I say 'you are thieves,' you say 'we are not thieves.' You are incapable of expressing yourselves. That's why your mouths smell of filth.” Later, AKP Trabzon MP Adil Karaismailoğlu walked toward Bozan and slapped the DEM MP.
