Second application to the Constitutional Court for Can Atalay: Release requested
As the judicial crisis continues—in which the Court of Cassation blocked the release of TİP MP Can Atalay despite the Constitutional Court's ruling of a rights violation, and filed a criminal complaint against the Constitutional Court members—a second application has been made to the Constitutional Court on his behalf.
A second individual application has been filed with the Constitutional Court (AYM) for Can Atalay, a prisoner in the Gezi Park trial who was elected as a Hatay MP for the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) in the May 14 elections. Atalay's release was requested.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation did not release Workers' Party of Turkey Hatay MP Can Atalay, despite the rights violation ruling issued by the Constitutional Court (AYM). The Court of Cassation had also announced that it would file a criminal complaint against the members of the Constitutional Court.
