Second commission in the opening process begins: 'It will remain secret for 10 years'

The second phase of the opening process, which began with the statements of MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, continues today at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş made important statements regarding the second meeting of the opening process, the first act of which took place on Tuesday. The announcement made by Kurtulmuş also includes the decision to hold the second part of the commission behind closed doors.

“THE MINUTES WILL REMAIN SECRET FOR 10 YEARS”

Speaking to the press before the meeting, Kurtulmuş announced the confidentiality decision, saying, “The first meeting was a good start. However, heated debates are expected in the coming days. The speeches made here will be recorded, but these minutes will not be disclosed to the public for 10 years.” Kurtulmuş stated that care will be taken to ensure that the discussions to take place in the continuation of the opening process are not leaked to the press or outside parties.

DECISION MADE FOR CLOSED COMMISSION MEETING

In the vote held on whether the subsequent parts of the commission would be open or closed, the decision was made by majority vote to hold the meeting behind closed doors. Following the vote, it was decided that the second part would be held only with the participation of authorized persons.

THREE MINISTERS TO MAKE PRESENTATIONS

In the meeting to be held today, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, and MIT President İbrahim Kalın will make important presentations regarding the opening process.
