Selçuk Mızraklı's 'Demirtaş-Öcalan' message

Selçuk Mızraklı, who was released in recent weeks, rejected assessments suggesting a disagreement between Selahattin Demirtaş and the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, Abdullah Öcalan. Stating that "there is no duality, no opposition," Mızraklı said that the release of Demirtaş is important for the authenticity of the process.

Selçuk Mızraklı's 'Demirtaş-Öcalan' message

Former Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Selçuk Mızraklı, who was released from prison, opposed assessments suggesting that there is a "disagreement" between Selahattin Demirtaş and the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, Abdullah Öcalan.

Speaking to T24, Mızraklı responded to the question "Is there a divergence between Öcalan and Demirtaş?" by saying, "There is no duality, no opposition." Arguing that such claims are manufactured from the outside, Mızraklı claimed that the debate aims to create new fault lines within the DEM Party.

Stating that figures from different political parties have contacted him following his release, Mızraklı said that no one from the AKP or MHP has called or visited him to date. Expressing that negotiation channels in politics must be kept open, Mızraklı stated that otherwise, polarization would strengthen.

EMPHASIS ON LAW FOR DEMİRTAŞ

Reminding that he spent 4 years and 8 months in prison with former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, Mızraklı linked Demirtaş's situation to the debate on the rule of law. Stating, "If a person in this country is still being held inside despite the law, despite a legal decision, believe me, you are also inside," Mızraklı said that lawlessness can affect all segments of society.

"WE WILL NOT BELIEVE THIS PROCESS IS AUTHENTIC UNTIL DEMİRTAŞ IS RELEASED"

According to Mızraklı, the release of Demirtaş will be one of the important indicators of the process he describes as a "return to the rule of law." Conveying that people from different political circles who visited him expressed a similar expectation, Mızraklı stated that the view "We will not believe this process is authentic until Demirtaş is released" is not limited only to the DEM Party base.

Expressing that he does not see a rivalry or opposition between Demirtaş and the terrorist leader Öcalan, Mızraklı argued that the emphasis on a peaceful solution is shared. Mızraklı said, "Demirtaş says peace, Öcalan says peace, Bahçeli says peace, Erdoğan says it. The opposition is also largely saying this. This is where we need to focus."

APOLOGY TO BEŞİKTAŞ

Mızraklı also touched upon his post that drew reactions following the match where Amedspor defeated Beşiktaş. Stating that his words, "I said Beşiktaş would come here with trembling legs. They came with trembling legs and returned with broken wings," were a metaphor and satire in sports language, Mızraklı stated that he did not intend any disrespect to the Beşiktaş community.

Expressing that he also found Beşiktaş's stance positive, Mızraklı said, "If it had a meaning that exceeded my intent, may they forgive me."
