Selma Aliye Kavaf switches from DEVA Party to CHP
Selma Aliye Kavaf, who was elected as a Member of Parliament for Manisa on the DEVA Party ticket, has announced that she has joined the CHP. Kavaf, who announced her resignation from the DEVA Party on January 8, declared her move to the CHP today, and CHP Chairman Özgür Özel will pin her party badge.
Selma Aliye Kavaf, who entered politics with the AKP in 2002, was elected as a CHP Manisa MP on the DEVA Party quota in the 2023 General Elections. It was announced that MP Kavaf would join the CHP today.
It was stated that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel will pin the party badge on Kavaf, who is attending today's CHP group meeting.
WHO IS SELMA ALİYE KAVAF?
Teacher Selma Aliye Kavaf, who began her active political career in the AKP, was born in Denizli in 1962. Kavaf served in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) for the AK Party from 2007 to 2011. Kavaf became the first female MP elected from Denizli and continued her political career in the AK Party. In 2009, Kavaf served as the Minister of State responsible for Women and Family.
In the 2023 General Elections, Selma Aliye Kavaf was elected as a CHP Manisa MP on the DEVA Party quota. She was among the founding members of the Democracy and Progress Party (DEVA), which was established by Ali Babacan on March 9, 2020. Kavaf is married and a mother of one.
