Sezen Aksu's message on İmamoğlu 11 days later: 'A call to common sense'
Renowned artist Sezen Aksu has called on authorities to respect the rule of law and human rights following the arrest warrant issued for CHP presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
Sezen Aksu, one of the most prominent figures in Turkish music, has broken her silence regarding the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu, releasing a statement on her official website. In her statement, Aksu emphasized the need to adhere to the rule of law and to show respect for human rights.
Aksu's statement included the following remarks:
'This is a call to common sense! The situation our country is in deeply saddens me. I see it as my duty to address those responsible. It is your duty to listen to the voice of the people, to ensure your actions are in accordance with the law, and not to violate human rights. You are obligated to protect our youth and treat all our citizens equally. I hope you will evaluate what I have said in a reasonable manner.'
