Sharp reaction from CHP to Lütfü Savaş: 'May God grant him wisdom'
CHP Deputy Chairman Deniz Yücel gave a sharp response to former Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş's request to cancel the extraordinary party congress. Yücel stated, 'We know what these efforts serve.'
CHP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Deniz Yücel made statements to the press following the Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting held in Istanbul. Regarding the application to the court by Lütfü Savaş and two delegates to cancel the extraordinary congress that the CHP plans to hold on April 6, Yücel used the following expressions: ''We know very well what those who are busy trying to get the Republican People's Party's congress cancelled are serving. I say to Mr. Lütfü Savaş, 'May God grant him wisdom'.''
Yücel also addressed the allegations that mosques were damaged during the protests in Istanbul, stating the following:
''The claim that mosques were damaged is completely baseless. Security forces cornered the citizens gathered in Saraçhane into the mosque with pepper spray and pressurized water. No one damaged the mosques.''

YÜCEL DREW ATTENTION TO THE ECONOMY
Making criticisms regarding the economic situation, Yücel said, ''The arrest of İmamoğlu caused an economic downturn. 26 billion dollars of the 42.8 billion dollars evaporated. This situation shows that there is no rule of law or security of property in the country.'' Yücel emphasized that such attempts are efforts to seize municipalities.
Touching upon the investigations into the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, Yücel added the following:
''Investigation permits have been granted regarding 33 concerts. These events had been audited before and no irregularities were found. These investigations are not legal, they are political. They do not want strong candidates against Erdoğan.''
Yücel concluded his speech by saying, 'Whenever this country democratizes, a positive picture can emerge in the economy.'
