Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and DEM Party Istanbul MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder has passed away on the 18th day of his treatment due to multiple organ failure.

Önder was hospitalized on April 15 due to a heart condition he suffered in Istanbul and was taken into intensive care following a 12-hour surgery. Sırrı Süreyya Önder was laid to rest following a funeral prayer at the Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque in Istanbul.

A banner of Önder was hung at the DEM Party headquarters today. The banner featured the words, "Goodbye Sırrı Brother, we promise you that great peace will come to this country."
