Socialist International freezes CHP's membership, accepts YENİ Party's application
The international organization of center-left and social democratic parties has suspended the CHP's membership while approving the YENİ Party's application.
The Socialist International, which brings together social democratic and center-left parties from around the world, has taken a notable decision regarding two parties from Turkey. As a result of an evaluation by the organization's authorized bodies, the Republican People's Party's (CHP) official membership in the organization has been frozen.
During the process in which the CHP's membership was suspended, the YENİ Party's membership application was also decided upon. Following the review, it was announced that the YENİ Party's request to join the Socialist International had been accepted.
The Socialist International is known as an international umbrella organization where social democratic, socialist, and center-left parties from different countries are represented. The decision has created a new chapter regarding the relations of political parties in Turkey with international social democratic networks.
Following the decision, how the CHP's membership status will proceed and how the YENİ Party's representation process within the organization will take shape have become a subject of curiosity.
