İsa Sinan Göktaş, the lawyer for former Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak, has reacted to the mention of Albayrak’s name in statements regarding allegations publicly discussed as the “fund investigation.”
In a statement on his social media account, Göktaş targeted the remarks of CHP Group Chairman Faik Öztrak and YENİ Party İzmir Deputy Ümit Özlale, arguing that Albayrak has no connection to the allegations and actions that are the subject of the investigation.
The statement noted that in posts made by Öztrak on October 19, 2026, in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and on the X platform, the allegations regarding the fund investigation were associated with the “128 billion dollars” debate and the name of Berat Albayrak.
Göktaş claimed that this approach was “deliberate and far from good faith.”
Göktaş stated that Albayrak left active politics in 2020, has only been involved with foundation work since that date, and has not participated in any political program.
Stating that the transactions subject to the fund investigation belong to the 2024-2026 period, Göktaş noted that six years have passed since Albayrak left his post as Minister of Treasury and Finance.
Although Mr. Berat Albayrak has no connection, near or far, direct or indirect, to the allegations and actions subject to the fund investigation, we hereby submit to the information and appreciation of the public that we will file lawsuits against those who use his name in statements and news regarding the matter in a deliberate and malicious manner.
In his statement, Göktaş also noted that Albayrak is of the opinion that everyone who has obtained unfair gains and caused grievances for citizens, including public officials who have negligence within the scope of the investigation, should be punished.
