Statement from CHP's YSK representative that will anger voters: 'There are no Syrian voters'

Mehmet Hadimi Yakupoğlu, who has represented the CHP at the Supreme Election Council (YSK) for 14 years, made a striking comment regarding 'ballot boxes'.

As reported by Sözcü columnist Saygı Öztürk, Yakupoğlu has worked with two party leaders, four YSK chairmen, and six deputy chairmen responsible for Election and Legal Affairs over the past 14 years. 

Here is Yakupoğlu's statement regarding the issues of "fake voters," "duplicate voters," and "Syrian voters":

'THERE ARE NO FAKE VOTERS, NO SYRIAN VOTERS'

“My duty is only to convey the correct information to my party at the right time and to enable my party to make the right political decision at the right time. On the other hand, I have said it until today and I will continue to say it; 'There are no fake voters, no duplicate voters, no Syrian voters'. Furthermore, if you are not at the ballot box according to our election system, not just a cat, but an elephant could enter that box, and it has entered many times. However, because we could not fully control the ballot boxes, especially in Ankara in 2014, we experienced those days and unfortunately, we fought with our shadows, that is, with ourselves.

'WE SAW IT IN THE 2023 AND 2024 ELECTIONS'

And what happened until these days? Everything has changed. Because, by saying that if you want to get rid of the government, vote for the second one, and that the vote has always been controlled by the Republican People's Party until today, we saw for the first time in the 2023 and subsequently the 2024 elections that everything could change with our vote, and we held it in our hands. 

'THE MAIN ISSUE IS PROTECTING THE BALLOT BOX'

Since 2011, Mr. Hüsrev Kutlu and Mr. Recep Özel on behalf of the AK Party have drawn the first place on the ballot paper many times, and I drew it in 2018. But even this coincidence was used against our party three times in one day without asking me, unfortunately. I state again; please ballot box, ballot box, and even ballot box, always the ballot box... I always know this and say this. When the CHP protected the ballot box, how did it manage to elect deputies and mayors from places where it could not do so before? This means the main issue is protecting the ballot box."

It cannot be said that the CHP has sufficiently protected the ballot boxes, especially in the East and Southeast. Work on this matter should start now, not when the election approaches.
