Statement from Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu following Kadıköy rumors! Where will he run for mayor?

As the March 31, 2024 local elections approach, it has been suggested that Tunceli Mayor Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu, a member of the TKP known as the 'Communist Mayor,' will run for office from a location other than Tunceli.

Kadıköy and Didim were among the districts highlighted for Maçoğlu's potential candidacy.

STATEMENT FROM FATİH MEHMET MAÇOĞLU

Speaking to Seçil Balık from TV100 regarding the allegations, Maçoğlu signaled that the process would be completed within this week.

In his statement regarding the claims, Maçoğlu used the following expressions:

“Friends are hearing some rumors and conducting research within the institution. Currently, nearly 20-25 socialist organizations are holding meetings. If I say something before they make an official statement, I would be undermining them. However, I will comment openly on the matter once the candidates are finalized. Leftist organizations are currently exchanging ideas regarding candidacy and alliances. The process is nearing a declaration, but it is not finished yet. I believe this process could be completed this week, on Thursday or Friday.

This year, socialists plan to field candidates in 20-30 regions. Bakırköy, Kadıköy, Kartal… Socialist names will be nominated in many parts of Turkey. There is an intention to field candidates in the rumored locations. However, which name will run in which region is still in the discussion phase.

Out of ethical necessity, it would not be right for me to call these claims 'true' or 'false' before the organizations make a decision.”
