Statement from MHP official: 'It has caused deep discomfort in the conscience of our nation'

MHP Deputy Chairman Yıldız shared the press statement of Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Celal Adan on his X account.

Here is that post:

"The Grand National Assembly of Turkey is the manifestation of the national will and the headquarters of the national struggle. It is the institution that even Commander-in-Chief Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk turned to for legitimacy before the Great Offensive.

It is this supreme assembly that built an independent state from a homeland geography that had been invaded and plundered. This assembly is the courage that did not retreat from Ankara while the sound of cannons was heard in Polatlı. It is the resilience that kept the nation's watch even under bombs on the night of July 15.

With this glorious history, the Veteran Assembly carries a meaning far beyond stone and soil. Its borders are not limited to the walls surrounding our building. Wherever the heart of the Turkish nation beats, the borders of the Veteran Assembly extend there. Because this assembly has always been the voice and word of everyone whose heart beats with Turkey.

Working for years with this consciousness and motto, the Grand National Assembly is the architect of a unity where different thoughts are considered a richness, but where common sensitivities are also a meeting point.

At this point, as representatives of the nation, everyone in the assembly has a responsibility to bear. The mandates entrusted to us with the lawful votes of the nation are a sacred trust. Those mandates are the title deed of the homeland and the honor of the state.

The rights we have obtained through these mandates cannot be used to harm national sovereignty or to defend the enemies of the state."

Distinguished Members of the Press,

Certain developments that occurred during the last general assembly session have caused deep discomfort in the conscience of our beloved nation.

Taking actions contrary to the internal regulations, disregarding parliamentary traditions, and turning the national podium into a platform for political demonstrations is an unacceptable situation.

It should not be forgotten that the Republic of Turkey is a state of law. The rule of law is above and beyond all political actions. The provisions of the internal regulations are clear, and the legal boundaries are distinct. Exceeding these boundaries harms not only the institutional identity of the Parliament but also the national sovereignty it represents.

We are obliged to view acting in a manner befitting the dignity of our Supreme Parliament and the honor of our nation as a national duty for us all.

The one who primarily entrusted this duty to us is the spiritual memory of the first speaker of the Veteran Parliament, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

May the soul of the founder of our Parliament, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, rest in peace; may the great parliament of a great nation exist forever."

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Constitutional Court (AYM) ruling regarding TİP Hatay MP Şerafettin Can Atalay was read in the TBMM. While the decision was being read, some AK Party deputies left the General Assembly Hall. Other AK Party deputies reacted by saying, 'What you are doing is very wrong.' Tensions rose between AK Party and CHP deputies. Meanwhile, TBMM Speaker Kurtulmuş reacted to Deputy Speaker Gülizar Biçer Karaca and announced that he would exercise his authority.
