Statement from the Palace on 'plastic bullets'! Did the police use 'plastic bullets' during the intervention?
The Presidency's Directorate of Communications Center for Combating Disinformation has responded to allegations that police used plastic bullets against students during protests in Istanbul and Ankara. The DMM stated that there are no plastic bullets in the inventory of the General Directorate of Security.
Following an operation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) and involving over 100 people, including IBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, citizens across Turkey have begun organizing protest demonstrations. Police responded to the actions with harsh interventions, particularly in Istanbul and Ankara.
In response to the claim that plastic bullets were used during the protests, a "denial" statement was issued by the Presidency's Directorate of Communications. The Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM), which operates under the Directorate, claimed that the allegation that "police intervened against students with plastic bullets" is not true.

The statement made from the DMM's social media account included the following remarks:
"The claim appearing in some media outlets that 'Police intervened against students with plastic bullets' is not true. There is no question of an intervention with plastic bullets against demonstrators during the unauthorized protest. There are no plastic bullets in the inventory of the General Directorate of Security."
