Statement from Yılmaz Tunç regarding İmamoğlu's 'diploma' investigation! 'Perception of judicial harassment'

Speaking about the remarks made by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu regarding President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister Tunç assessed, "For a Mayor to use such expressions towards the President of this country is truly a misfortune for both the CHP and himself."

JUDICIAL PROCESS REGARDING İMAMOĞLU

Meeting with representatives of media organizations at the Ankara Judges' House and answering questions, Minister Tunç also noted the following regarding the judicial processes concerning İmamoğlu:

"İmamoğlu is constantly trying to create a perception that there is 'judicial harassment' against him. The subjects for which he is being tried are clear. One is the statement he made to the members of the Supreme Election Council. It is a process continuing in the appellate court. He says, 'Why isn't the appellate court making a decision? Let them decide as soon as possible.' The appellate court will not ask you when it will make a decision. You both talk about an impartial and independent judiciary and say, 'Make a decision about me quickly.' The other is the word he said to the Governor of Ordu. We cannot repeat it here. But he says it. He had received a sentence in that case at the Court of Cassation. It was converted into a fine."

''You have your defense, there are appeal mechanisms, and there are other ways you can apply to the moment decisions are made.
