Statement on fund investigation from AKP Deputy Group Chairman Gül: Names should be shared with the public

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Tekin Bingöl to discuss the "Draft Law on Certain Investment Funds Decided to be Liquidated." During the discussions, a debate took place between the government and the opposition regarding transactions in the capital market and ongoing investigations.

AKP Deputy Group Chairman Abdulhamit Gül stated that judicial and administrative investigations are ongoing and argued that the process would not be allowed to be covered up. Stating that the Central Securities Depository records are available and kept under protection, Gül expressed that no discrimination or favoritism would be permitted.

“We believe that as a result of the judicial and administrative investigation, it is the right of this nation to know all the names of these greedy, covetous, and fraudulent people. As these become clear, the public has the right to know the names of whoever has seized the nation's money in this investigation, whoever has obtained unfair gains. Of course, these names should be disclosed as a result of these investigations; our nation expects this as well.”

CRITICISM OF STOCK MARKET SCANDAL FROM THE OPPOSITION

Taking the floor during the discussions, Gökhan Günaydın said that they had been issuing warnings regarding transactions in the capital market for a long time. Günaydın recalled the statement made by Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek on November 5, 2025, regarding manipulations and regulatory deficiencies.

Günaydın directed criticisms through former Capital Markets Board chairmen İbrahim Ömer Gönül and Ali Fuat Taşkesenlioğlu. Bringing up allegations regarding the Taşkesenlioğlu era, Günaydın called on the government to take responsibility, saying, "Turkey has been robbed of 830 billion liras."

In his response, Gül said that it was not a "finished process" and that the investigation was continuing. Stating that if there is any fault, liability, or intent, these will be uncovered, Gül expressed that the public's expectation is in this direction.

Following the evaluations of the group deputy chairmen, the session moved on to the discussion of the motions submitted to the TBMM Presidency by the political party groups. It was reported that discussions on the entirety of the proposal are continuing.
