Strategy proposal from Şamil Tayyar that also includes the YPG: 'Only burnt weapons remained'

In the process carried out in Turkey with the goal of a 'future without terrorism,' a group of PKK members laid down their weapons today.

However, this development was evaluated by some circles as a symbolic step.

In this context, former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar stated that the process needs to be supported by a more permanent and effective strategy.

AKP member Şamil Tayyar emphasized in his statement that the YPG should also be included in this process.

Tayyar said, "30 PKK members came down from the mountains and threw their weapons into a fire pit in front of the cameras.

However, at the same hours, the YPG held a show of force with its heavy weapons in Syria.

Therefore, for the process to reach success, broader social support must be provided, and the strategy must also include the liquidation of the YPG," he said.

Stating that this strategy would have a high multiplier effect, Tayyar used the expressions, "There is a need for a more effective, more permanent, and more convincing strategy that will lead the process to success." Tayyar's proposal draws attention to the necessity of a new approach in the fight against terrorism.

Tayyar's full statement is as follows:

"30 PKK members came down from the mountains and threw their weapons into a fire pit in front of the cameras.

Then they climbed back up the cave stairs they had descended in measured steps.

Only a few pieces of burnt weapons remained.

At the same hours, the YPG held a show of force with its heavy weapons in Syria.

Undoubtedly, the terrorist organization reaching the stage of laying down arms is of a historical nature, and this process must be brought to success.

To increase the probability of success, it is important to expand social support beyond the borders of the government.

In this context, today's symbolic demonstration of the disarmament process may not be enough to achieve the purpose.

My opinion is this;

There is a need for a more effective, more permanent, and more convincing strategy that will lead the process to success.

When this strategy is formulated to include the liquidation of the YPG, its multiplier effect will be very high.

In my opinion..."
