Striking 'cabinet' claim from Şamil Tayyar following election defeat!
Stating that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has signaled change, Şamil Tayyar said, "Society is also in a state of expectation, and I am of the opinion that there will be a change. I think this change will not only be in the staff within the headquarters, but that the organizations will be refreshed and there will be a change in the Council of Ministers." Tayyar also suggested that the Presidential Government System could be revised.
The results of the March 31 Local Elections created a shock effect within the AKP.
While the CHP became the leading party across Turkey for the first time in 47 years with 37.77 percent of the vote, the AKP fell to second place in an election for the first time since its founding, receiving 35.49 percent of the vote.
Following the election defeat, AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave a message of 'change' at his party's group meeting. Erdoğan stated, "We will carry out the necessary change and continue on our path in a much stronger way."
Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar made striking assessments regarding Erdoğan's 'change' statement. Speaking on the Medya Kritik program on TGRT Haber, Tayyar stated that the election day was difficult for the AK Party and that the voters gave a clear message to his party.
"THERE MAY BE A REVISION IN THE SYSTEM"
Stating that Erdoğan gave signals of change, Tayyar claimed that this change would take place not only in the headquarters staff but also in the organizations and the Cabinet. Furthermore, touching upon the revisions that could be made regarding the Presidential Government System, Tayyar said the following:
"Society is also in a state of expectation, and I am of the opinion that there will be a change. I think this change will not only be in the staff within the headquarters, but that the organizations will be refreshed and there will be a change in the Council of Ministers. He gave important messages regarding the Presidential Government System. The President said that there would be no return to the parliamentary system, but stated that if there are disruptions in the current system, it will be revised. We do not yet know whether he will wait for the congress or if it will happen immediately. Perhaps he may spread it over time and wait for the congress where the new MKYK will be formed."
