Striking claim from pro-government media: A party leader's name mentioned in IMM investigation

The newspaper claimed that in the statements of fugitive suspects, Dervişoğlu's name was mentioned in the process of entering the "corruption system" allegedly established within the IMM.

The report stated that the testimonies provided by Murat Gülibrahimoğlu, Servet Yıldırım, and Sarp Yalçınkaya alleged that "individuals were introduced into the municipal system through a specific politician." Yeni Şafak wrote that this politician is Müsavat Dervişoğlu. Attention was drawn to the following words in Yalçınkaya's statement given on August 4:

"The person who provided a reference for Murat Gülibrahimoğlu and ensured he met with Ekrem İmamoğlu's circle is a politician holding a high-level position in an opposition party, whose name I cannot disclose for the sake of my own safety. Gülibrahimoğlu and this politician met with Hakan Karanis at the Defne Restaurant in Yaşam Vadisi, Beylikdüzü. At this dinner, the politician in question introduced Gülibrahimoğlu to Hakan Karanis and said, 'Murat will resolve the IMM's dumping and excavation permits from the ministry. In return, you will give all of the IMM's dumping and excavation work to Murat.' After Murat obtained the necessary permits from the ministry, the dumping and excavation work was given to Murat. Following this, the politician in question came to Murat and demanded his commission, but Murat told this politician, 'I spent a lot of money on these jobs; I will not give a penny to anyone until I have covered all my expenses.' Because this politician is an important person, I did not want to mention this incident until now. I do not want this incident to be made public either. I believe that if it is disclosed, my family and I will face serious material and moral difficulties."

The statement given by Yıldırım on October 15, 2025, is as follows:

"In 2021, Hakan Karanis invited me to the Defne Restaurant in Beylikdüzü. While we were eating there with Hakan, he said his guests were coming and moved to another table. After the meeting ended, Hakan told me that a politician had come with someone named Murat Gülibrahimoğlu and that they had discussed dumping and excavation work with them. After this meeting, the IMM's dumping and excavation work was given to Gülibrahimoğlu. Hakan Karanis followed the work here on behalf of the IMM for a certain period before transferring it to Fatih Keleş and İbrahim Bülbüllü. I had not seen Gülibrahimoğlu and that politician, whom Karanis met with at the Defne Restaurant, before. I saw them there for the first time. I do not want to explicitly state the name of the politician in the statement due to the safety of my family and myself. The politician I saw at the Defne Restaurant is currently the chairman of a party."
